Computer & Information Science (CIS): Raiganj University into a New Research & Professional Direction
Abstract:

Computing is responsible for the collection, selection, organization, processing, management and dissemination of information. Information Technology has different components such as Database Technology, Networking Technology, Multimedia Technology, Communication Technology etc., and responsible for the information management. Hence it is responsible for the information and IT affairs in the organizations, institutions and individuals. It is a fact that the growing need of computing and IT in different subjects and fields are responsible for the creation of newer subjects and many universities were moved on Information Science from IT and new interdisciplinary fields has been started viz. Health Information Sciences etc. The Computing and its applications into the society and individuals led the Computer & Information Science (i.e. Information Science with focus on Computing or merged CS & IS) nomenclature. As a developed nation, few Indian universities have been started different skillful as well as domain centric Information Sciences. This paper is a kind of documentation on Computing related domains and responsible for creating awareness and clearing misconception of information and computing related and allied interdisciplinary fields/ programs. The paper is a case study of Raiganj University, a state aided university in India where full-fledged department and the program has been started on ‘Computer and Information Science (CIS)’. Paper highlights the SWOT of the program, department with graphical representation.

IoT and its Smart Applications
Abstract:

Due to the raid growth of computing technology in last two decades, human effort of doing any works has drastically reduced. One of the most emerging areas in the field of computing technology is IoT which has completely changed human’s life style. IoT is a sort of “universal global neural network” in the cloud which connects various things. Things define object or entity which has physical existence. So, IoT defines the use of intelligently connected devices and systems to leverage data gathered by embedded sensors and actuators in machines and other physical objects. The term, IoT although coined way back in 1999 by Kevin Ashton in the context of supply chain management, but it became popular after the onset of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). Currently there are 9 billion interconnected devices and it is expected to reach 25 billion devices by 2020. Due to this rapid growth, it gained a great attention from the researchers. Several research works have conducted to create different smart applications using IoT such as smart supply chain management, Smart grid, Smart energy consumption, Smart transportation, smart waste management and monitoring system and etc. Now the next revolution will be the interconnection between objects to create a smart world in every aspect. In this paper,I review a concept of many IoT applications and future possibilities for new related technologies in addition to the challenges that facing the implementation of the IoT.

In this paper, importance of ICT and its use in education is described. ICT means Information and Communication Technology. It is one type of communication technology that is used to process and communicate information. For this type of technology computers, the Internet, Broadcasting technologies such as radio and television are used. By using ICT information can be stored, retrieved, manipulated as well as transmitted.

Dynamic System Simplification using Rectified Logarithmic Pole Clustering Technique
Abstract:

The author suggested a rectified logarithmic pole clustering technique for simplification of the large-scale linear dynamic time-invariant systems. The denominator polynomial is determined by new pole clustering technique unlike logarithmic clustering technique already suggested by the authors[1]. The numerator of the reduced model is computed by matching few time-moments of the original system. The proposed method is easy to understand, efficient and capable to retain stability in the reduced models, if the original high order system is stable in nature. The viability of the proposed method is illustrated with the help of few examples taken from the literature.
